I must say that I am actually proud of Pursuit. Not with her music, to start off, but for what she actually represents. Being a female producer, you can probably say that there are not many out there trying to do what she does. Either that, or they just aren't getting the recognition that they deserve. Hailing from New York by way of Maryland (Go Terapins!), she wants to let people out there know that she reps for not only real hip hop, but for all b-girls that feel they don't have anyone to look to for inspirations. Now, its time to weigh in the good and the bad.

The Good: From the selection, you can tell that Pursuit has an ear for music and has chosen quality musicians for inspiration. Every track sounds different from the rest. "Pound 4 Pound" starts off with a sample of a record playing in reverse, then goes into its synthesized groove. "Just to Name a Few" sounds like a KRS-One/"South Bronx" inspired number. So, for the goodness of the album, Pursuit shows a diversity in which she gains influences and tries to apply different ideas and inspirations to each track.

The Bad: Uhm, I would have to comment on the lack of cohesion of the instruments in each track that is on the album. Maybe it's the different instruments that she chose to use to make the production. Maybe it is the fact that some of the instruments soundwellsynthesized. Whatever the case may be, instead of sounding like high end compositions, they sound more like an experiment. In reality, it doesn't have the polishing and flow that the more influential production has nowadays.

Well, I must give Pursuit her due for the pursuit of a musical career. However, I must warn her: put your best foot forward at all times. Not trying to be funny, but just step up the quality a little bit, make everything work together in your compositions, and give them a slight bit more polish. Then, you will take it to the next level.
