It has been a good minute since I have heard the Raw Produce Duo put something down for the masses. I guess they have been busy living their regular lives and making ends meet. Whatever the case may be, I can only say that I am feeling The Feeling of Now EP. Maybe it's the positive, uplifting lyrics, 1993 vibe, and the overall quality of the production.

The EP starts off with the title track, "The Feeling of Now". Man, the beat on this song is so beautiful to me. The scratches of Jeru Da Damaja matching up with the beautiful string instruments and piano stabs make for an unsullied, harmonious feel that is usually manufactured by Native Tongue influenced groups. Thes One cooks up a remix that is heavy on the boom bip, piano loops, and xylophones, but it pales in comparison to the original mix of the song. Lyrics and chorus remain the same, making the concoction slightly out of place. However, it is still a nice song. "Richard's Radio Jam" is a jam dedicated to "his penis", for what it may be worth. It's still a cool ass song, and that is all you can ask for from this group. "Cycles (Remix)" uses the Q-Tip sample stating "......Simple daddy, don't you that things go in cycles" over some more feel good vibes.

The only real issue with this e.p., outside of the fact that it was an e.p., is the fact that the "State of the Art" remix could have been better. I mean, the lyrics on the song are nice, but not as nice as I have heard from the likes of Akrobatic, Checkmark, and Esoteric. But, other than that short sight, and the need for different fluctuations in lyrical stylings by Raw Produce themselves, this e.p. is a keeper in my book. It has that feel that has escape popular music with throwback sensibilities to it. In the end, it just feels good, and that, to Raw Produce, is the feeling of now.
